The Garden

Enjoy outdoor dining in our garden which is located at the centre of the valley. We have a wooden garden bench, a sun lounger, and a table and chair set which seats 8.

We refer to one half of the garden as 'the island' as it was once completely surrounded by water, and what remains of the mill's original leat still runs through the centre of the garden, although nowadays it is very shallow for most of the year.

The garden is situated in a beautiful spot, and the valley that surrounds it is a haven for wildlife. The stream and some parts of the garden are unfenced so please keep a close eye on younger children. A seldom used public footpath at the very end of the garden crosses one corner of 'the island' via two bridges, and from these bridges you can follow the footpath either further into the valley or to the beach.

The Valley

Porthcothan Valley

The cottage is located in the heart of a beautiful, unspoilt, peaceful valley teeming with wildlife, and a delightful little packhorse bridge. The footpath to the valley can be accessed directly from the cottage, and runs along through the heart of the valley alongside a stream.

The Beach

Porthcothan Bay Beach

The cottage is located just 5 minutes walk along a footpath to Porthcothan Bay and the small coast road. Porthcothan Bay is a stunning sandy beach with a stream, and backed by sand dunes. With cliffs either side, the bay provides fantastic surfing, great sand castle building, and is one of 5 bays locally that allows dogs.

This award winning beach is patrolled by lifeguards from April to September, and has an excellent beach shop.

Porthcothan Bay is also located near to Padstow and Watergate Bay. Horse riding, surfing lessons, kayaking and coasteering can all be booked nearby.
